30 years online!!
Total Escape is turning 30 years old this Autumn (2026) and we are still here making you aware of the hidden destinations around California. Site founder, DanaMite relocated up to Lassen Forest a several years ago and has been without a real internet connection, but that could soon be changing.
The website was launched on a 33k dial up modem in 1996. 56k soon gave way to real high speed DSL in downtown San Diego in 1999. We've dealt with with the numerous satellite internet companies and ISPs. Dana has moved homes different five times in the past 30 years. So much for "settling down"

Amazon, by far, has been our most reliable income on affiliate programs, but they did cut their affiliate commissions by half (during the pandemic) and never brought them back.
Total Escape website began way before the www affiliate programs started. Influencer and Content Creator - terms that weren't even born yet. We've watched various lodging and camping affiliate programs come and go over the decades and can honestly say that "it's been a lotta work, for very little commissions"
