Food Movies: The Future of Food

Image
This food documentary was one of the first to accurately illustrate the process of gene insertion on the DNA level. The Future of Food offers an in-depth exploration of several important developments in agriculture today including the diminishment of biodiversity, patenting of life, loss of family farms, consolidation of seed companies and the globalization of our food system. Food Movies: The World According to Monsanto

Image
This documentary released in 2008, just in the nick of time for Americans to wake up to their declining health, and take serious action against the corporate factors that control their lives. California vote YES on Prop 37 to label genetically engineered foods. Thanks to these intimate links between Monsanto and government agencies, the US adopted GE foods and crops without proper testing, without consumer labeling and in spite of serious questions hanging over their safety. Not coincidentally, Monsanto supplies 90 percent of the GE seeds used by the US market. Monsanto's long arm stretched so far that, in the early nineties, the US Food and Drugs Agency even ignored warnings of their own scientists, who were cautioning that GE crops could cause negative health effects. Other tactics the company uses to stifle concerns about their products include misleading advertising, bribery and concealing scientific evidence. World According to Monsanto (full length movie)
